Guest Post- Jeremy Robinson Kindle Giveaway

It's my pleasure to play host today to Jeremy Robinson's blog tour in which he is giving away a Kindle reader. Jeremy is the author of a number of best-selling thrillers and is well-know to regular readers of this blog. He did a brief Q&A with me and shares a bit about his work and how you can win a Kindle! Now I'll hand it over to Jeremy:

Welcome to Jeremy Robinson’s Great Kindle Giveaway and Blog Tour.

“Hurray for free Kindles!” you say, but who the hell is Jeremy Robinson? Allow me to introduce myself. I’m the author of eleven mixed genre novels, published in ten languages, including the popular fantasy YA series, THE LAST HUNTER, and the fast-paced Jack Sigler series (also known as Chess Team—not nearly as nerdy as it sounds), PULSE, INSTINCT and THRESHOLD from Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press. I’m the co-author of an expanding series of novellas deemed the Chesspocalypse, which take place in the Chess Team universe. If that doesn’t wet your whistle, I’m also known as Jeremy Bishop, the #1 Amazon.com horror author of THE SENTINEL and the controversial novel, TORMENT. For more about me, or my books, visit www.jeremyrobinsononline.com.

I have watched for years as my fellow authors held online events called blog tours. Some would visit ten blogs. Others, as many as ninety. And every day they would bring something different, waxing eloquent about a multitude of topics. When I finally decided to have a blog tour of my own, and settled on doing each and every weekday in October, my first thought was, “This will be cool,” which was immediately followed up by, “Holy crap, I can’t think of something interesting to say twenty times in one month!” I can barely think of something worthwhile for my own blog just once a month. The solution is what follows; each blog participating in the tour could ask me ANY three questions. That means, if the subject matter bores you, I’m not to blame! Huzzah!

But fear not. There are other rewards for sloughing through the questions and answers. I’ll be giving away two Kindles to two randomly selected readers who sign up for my newsletter. Details on the giveaway can be found below. On to the Q&A!

1. The Chess Team Universe has really expanded of late. What does the future hold for that series?

I’m planning to do two to three more full length novels—whatever it takes to bring closure to the Manifold/Hercules storyline begun in PULSE and continued in THRESHOLD. Whether or not these books will be available in hard cover is yet to be seen. When Thomas Dunne signed me on for two more novels, they asked for stand-alone, non-Chess Team books. Which is fine. My next hard cover, SECONDWORLD, is one of the best I’ve ever written. But THRESHOLD ended with a lot of unanswered questions and I’m not the kind of author that leaves readers hanging.

The fourth book, RAGNAROK, will hopefully be out next summer, which is slightly longer than the books are typically released (because I had to write the non-Chess books first). To fill in the gap, I came up with the Chesspocalypse, a co-authored series of novellas that feature individual members of the team. Right now there are six “book 1” novellas, each titled for the character it follows: CALLSIGN: KING, CALLSIGN QUEEN, CALLSIGN: DEEP BLUE, etc. But there will also be a second book for King out in 2011 titled: CALLSIGN: KING – UNDERWORLD. The cool thing about Rook and Queen’s stories is that they directly bridge THRESHOLD and RAGNAROK. They’re not required reading, but they’re a unique and fun way to bridge the longer gap between the books.

2. You're primarily an action-adventure author, though you've done horror/adventure, young adult adventure, and humor. Are you considering branching into any other genres?
Tough question. What other good genres are there? I don’t think I’ll be hitting any sub-genre’s that focus on a certain field. So no medical thrillers, no court room dramas, no police procedurals, all of which kind of rule out the mystery/suspense genre, which I walk right on past in the bookstore. I was going to write fantasy, but I’m really already doing that with THE LAST HUNTER. It’s not traditional fantasy with dragons and trolls, but it’s definitely fantasy, just my own world. Romance? If things get tight, maybe I’ll write a romantic-thriller. Under a pen name. Which I’ll never reveal. But right now, I think the science-thriller, fantasy, YA, horror, sci-fi, action-adventure and humor I’ve got going on is enough to satiate my creativity.

3. What have you not yet accomplished as a writer that you would like to achieve.

There are a lot of things I would like to achieve as a writer, most of which have nothing to do with novels. Not only would I like to write some comic books, I would love to see a comic book adaptation of some of my books. The Chess books, and Last Hunter series would both make awesome comics. This is probably universal among authors, but I really want to see some of my books made into movies. Sure, the money would be nice, but I also really just want to see some good movies! Okay, that’s a little egotistical, but it’s true. I write stories that I would like to read. I’d also like to see the Chess books turned into a video game. They’re compared to a video game in almost every review they get, and the story, characters, weapons, are perfectly suited to gaming, probably because I’m an avid gamer. I’m a novelist by profession, but my aspirations stretch far beyond this single storytelling format. I’ve accomplished a lot. I make a living from my stories. But if I get my way, I’m just getting warmed up.

Hope that was as good for you as it was for me. Now how about that kindle giveaway?

Here’s the deal: to be entered to win one of two free kindles all you have to do is visit my website—www.jeremyrobinsononline.com—and sign up for the newsletter. That’s it. The first kindle will go to a randomly chosen newsletter signup on October 31. For the second kindle, there’s a catch. The second giveaway will only be triggered if one of my kindle books hits the Amazon.com bestseller list (top 100). So pick up some books (most are just $2.99 a pop) and spread the word! If one of the books squeaks up to #100 for just a single hour, the second kindle will be given away to another randomly chosen newsletter sign up on October 31.

*When you sign up for the newsletter, be sure to include the name of the blog that referred you in the field provided. I’ll be giving away two $50 Amazon.com gift certificates to the blog that refers the most sign-ups and another to the blog who referred the first kindle winner.

** I will announce winners via Twitter, Facebook, my blog, and newsletter (which you will be signed up for!) but I’ll also e-mail the winners directly—I’ll need to know where to ship those kindles!

Thanks for spending some time with me today. Hope you enjoyed the Q&A, and good luck with the kindle giveaway!
