KiDNApped by Rick Chesler

Rick Chesler's latest techno-thriller features FBI agent Tara Shores in search of the missing CEO of a biotech company. She is joined by a marine biologist and the missing man's children, each of whom has his or her own agenda. With only a few days remaining until the man is declared legally dead, Tara is under the gun. And then, as they say, the plot thickens and the action ramps up. (See what I did there? Two cliches for the price of one!)

Here's the synopsis:

A priceless biotechnology, an FBI agent, and an unspeakable act of familial betrayal collide in a tropical kidnapping more twisted than a DNA double helix.

When a renowned scientist with a solution for global warming is kidnapped at sea, FBI Special Agent Tara Shores must unravel a high-tech trail of S.O.S. messages encoded into the DNA of living cells. As each decoded message brings Tara nearer to the missing genius, it also takes her farther from help than she ever thought possible.

"FBI agent Tara Shores is back in Rick Chesler's latest pulse-pounding techno-thriller, kiDNApped, an intelligent page-turner that will change your outlook on the world of genetics and keep you reading late into the night!" - Jeremy Robinson, author of INSTINCT and THRESHOLD

There is a lot to like about KiDNApped. The plot moves along, with shifting perspectives and points of view and some satisfying twists. While Chelser doles out revelations a little faster than I would like, his technique of sprinkling these among the various characters adds to the suspense. The lush Hawaiian setting is conveyed in a way that immerses the reader in the story. There's a strong scientific element to the plot, but is handled in a way that keeps the book accessible. KiDNApped is an exciting techno/science thriller in the spirit of Michael Crichton. Give it a try!

The publisher provided a copy of this book for review.
